Discover how our group rose to the challenge of providing access security to the Mont-Wright mine site operated by ArcelorMittal Canada.
In 2015, Arcelor began a major expansion of its mine at Mont-Wright. Our contract was to secure the site to which more than 2,000 expansion workers needed access. A very high level of security was needed, both at the entrance to the site and at the entrance to the mine. We had to deploy our security solution in a very limited timeframe and in extreme winter conditions.
Given the low temperatures (-50 C), the installation of outdoor cameras was very difficult. We deployed heated tents to warm the ground and enable us to lay concrete slabs for fences and guardhouses. Since the cables broke due to the cold, we had to heat them before they were installed. We received support from manufacturers involved including Exacq Video, Kantech and Panasonic.
We also deployed our CampLogistiks remote camp management solution.
In 8 weeks, our team deployed a complete access control and intercom system paired with video cameras to control the guardhouses. As a result, security personnel were able to control the entrances and exits over the course of the two-year expansion project.
